I was participating in a tailored jacket project with the SewCouture list atQuiltropolis. The project stalled for a while (over a year!) but I’ll be starting up again. In the mean time here’s a report of my progress so far. I have practically no tailoring experience so I’m using 3 different books as reference for [...] This t-shirt was done entirely with fabric paints. I use the paints intended for screen printing as you get a lot more paint for your dollar. I sketched out a design for the, whatever it is, that got ran over then proceeded to paint. Then I carefully painted the tire treads … yeah right. I [...] I would like to suggest an excellent book on the topic of shoe making: Make Your Own Shoes by Mary Wales Loomis This book is available directly from the author at her website: http://www.marywalesloomis.com I highly recommend this book. This is not about making slippers or moccasins. She shows you how to make shoes that are [...] I made some vests for my husband. The first vest is made of a medium weight woven, printed cotton. The print has a black on burgundy background pattern with Egyptian-looking icons printed in gold and black. Although, from a distance the pictures remind me of Easter Island heads. The vest is lined with lightweight black [...] This my first attempt at faced buttonholes. These ones are triangular shaped. I also used fabric-covered buttons. Adds to the “geometric” look don’t you think?
